In the nineties of the last century, a group of winegrowers from the midlands of San Bartolomé de Tirajana joined forces to found the Bodega Las Tirajanas, located in the village of Tunte. Their aim was to combine their harvests and create a joint wine. Over the years, the project grew and consolidated by adding new winegrowers from the south, centre and north of Gran Canaria. Today, Las Tirajanas is the largest winery on the island and its brand has positioned itself in both the local and international markets. It operates as a cooperative formed by 17 families with vineyards in different parts of the island.
The winery produces eight different wines that reflect the microclimates of its vineyards. The vineyards in the south experience extreme winds and grow on basaltic soils formed by recent volcanic activity. On the other hand, the vineyards in the midlands of the island are ancient and grow traditional red grapes. These vineyards, located at an altitude of over 1,000 metres on steep slopes, benefit from the trade winds and mist during the ripening of the crops.
The winery has a social area where visitors can enjoy the wines they taste in peace and quiet. Guided tasting tours are offered, accompanied by local gourmet products that enhance the tasting of Las Tirajanas wines. To fully enjoy this experience, it is necessary to make a reservation in advance.
During the guided tour, visitors can immerse themselves in the island's viticulture, learn about the evolution of winemaking over the centuries and enjoy good times with Las Tirajanas wines and the most typical gourmet products of the area. Plan your visit to the winery!
