The Banana World is a unique place in the municipality of Arucas that offers a very special cultural visit as it is the first Banana Interpretation Centre in Gran Canaria and the only one in the Canary Islands, where 50 different varieties of banana trees from all over the world are exhibited.
Spanning an impressive 56,500 square metres, this space enchants visitors with its over 7,000 banana trees, creating the illusion of a sea of banana trees blending seamlessly with splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean. The estate also features 150 avocado trees and a diverse range of fruit trees, ensuring an extraordinary visit.
The guided tour of the banana plantations also includes the chance to explore a 19th-century Canarian house, meticulously restored to preserve its original architecture. Inside, the visitor centre offers a journey through the history and cultivation of the Canarian banana, allowing you to discover the importance of this fruit to Gran Canaria’s identity.
The experience concludes with a tasting of artisanal products such as banana sweets and jam, wine and cosmetics made from this tropical fruit. Visitors can also purchase this selection of products from the centre’s shop.
